Netball team report - November 2017:

Netball Team Report Kings Worthy recently took 2 Year 6 netball teams to play friendly matches against Western Primary School. This was the first competitive match for most of the players and they all participated brilliantly. The A team were up against a very tall Western team but played well and it was especially pleasing to see the strength of our teamwork. There were particularly strong performances from Megan P and Bryony H who both intercepted and defended superbly. The final score was 13-1 to Western but our players gained a lot from this first match experience. The B team match was a closer result with both teams scoring 5 goals. Again the players all showed real determination and play improved as the match went on and they gained in confidence. Lily S was particularly impressive scoring a hat trick for the Kings Worthy team!

Football team report - November 2017:

This year we are taking part in a boys football league and a girls football league for local primary schools. Our first matches were against Harestock Primary School. Our boys' team played first on a rainy afternoon at Harestock. They played very well throughout the game against an inexperienced Harestock team. It was evident that lots of our boys have played together in teams outside of school. The match ended with an emphatic 20-0 win for Kings Worthy. Goalscorers were Lewis G, Lewis B, Jacob C, Andrew B and George R. The girls' match against Harestock was played here at Kings Worthy and our team contained a mix of girls who have played a lot of football and some who were playing their first ever match. The girls played brilliantly, chasing every ball and making it hard for Harestock at every opportunity. The match ended 10-0 to Kings Worthy, with goals from Ellie G, Bryony H, Daisy B, Skye A and Kailey O. Well done to all our footballers on a great start to the season!

April 2016 - We are the Champions!
Congratulations to the members of the girls football team who have confirmed their status as the best team in Hampshire!

They travelled to play Portsmouth Grammar School in the final of the Hampshire Cup at the end of April and once again showed what a talented and determined team they are. The girls played at a high tempo for the whole match and didn't give the opposition time to settle. The first half was tense, but at half time our girls were worthy leaders thanks to a goal from Victoria. After devouring a ridiculous number of half-time oranges, the girls set about extending their lead in the second half. A second goal for Victoria, a number of good saves by Sasha and a hat-trick for Daisy meant that as the final whistle sounded, Kings Worthy were 5-0 winners and County Champions! Well done Sasha, Alys, Grace, Issie, Lily, Daisy, Evie, Emma and Victoria!

Well done girls, it was a nail biting first half but you played like champions in the second half when more balls found the net. I’m proud of you!  Every member of the team has contributed to the successful season and they all deserve great credit for their performances. We were county champions in 2013 and hopefully this victory will inspire some of the girls in lower year groups to give girls football a go in the future.

Our Year 5/6 girls football team played their first match of the season against Balksbury Junior school in the first round of the Hampshire county cup on Thursday.  Everyone was very excited before the game and we were keen to make progress in the competition that we won in 2013.  The afternoon sun was shining and a good crowd of parents, grandparents, brother and sisters were ready to support the team.  The girls got off to a flying start and quickly took the lead.  By half time, Kings Worthy had a commanding 4-0 lead.  A quick reorganisation at half time saw Emma and Evie take the places of Isobel and Lily, who had both done a great job in midfield in the first half.  In the second half, the defence stood firm and two further goals saw Kings Worthy extend their lead.  When the final whistle blew, our tired but happy team celebrated a 6-0 win and a terrific start to the new season.

Team: Alys, Sasha, Grace, Daisy. Isobel, Lily, Victoria, Emma, Evie.

Football Club - Mr Ewins

Please be aware that children will need to have football boots and shin pads in order to play matches at football club. Children who do not have boots or shinpads are welcome to come to football club and to take part in the skills drills wearing trainers, but they will not be able to join in the matches that are played.

Children can wear their P.E kit or a football kit to train in.  They are fairly likely to get muddy.  Training will be cancelled if the weather is particularly awful, but we are likely to play in rain at various times throughout the year.  It might be advisable for children to bring a small towel in case they get wet during training sessions.
