Kings Worthy as an Eco-Hero

Crisp packet collection

This afternoon, our Year 5 children visited each classroom to inform them about our Kings Worthy recycling drive which involves collecting crisp packets. We have been looking into TerraCycle, a company which has become a global leader in recycling 'unrecyclable' materials. We found out that Walkers will pay to recycle crisp packets on amounts over 8kg and when deposited at a registered collection point. They turn the plastic into small pellets that are then used to create garden furniture. Our children wrote speeches and created posters about this scheme before informing the rest of the school. Over the next few weeks the children are asking for all empty crisp packets to be brought into school and placed in the designated bin which will be situated in the playground. The children will then organise their collection for recycling. More information on this can be found in the newsletter. Thank you for your support!
