Topic 6: Super Humans
This half term, we’ll be learning about the digestive system as well as thinking about the function of different types of teeth. We’ll also be learning about how sound is made and how it travels.
Literacy: Newspaper reports – we will be writing our own newspaper reports based on a visual text, The Lighthouse. Explanations – we will be writing explanations about how the digestive system works.

Maths: Counting, reading, writing and ordering numbers to at least 9,999, counting forwards and backwards in steps of different sizes, rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100 or 1000, multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100. Tables facts - knowing all tables facts to 12 x 12 from memory and using these to work out division facts e.g. if 7x8=56, then 56÷8=7. Fractions – equivalent fraction families. Decimals - Rounding and decimal/fraction equivalents. Roman numerals – to read and write Roman numerals. Measurement – to convert between units of measure (length, weight and volume). Word problems – revising written methods for all four number operations (+ - x ÷) and applying these to solve word problems, including the use of estimation and inverse operations.
Computing: We will be developing our use of PowerPoint to present information.
RE: This half term, we will be learning about food rituals.
Art: We will be producing observational drawings and artwork inspired by Giuseppe Arcimboldo.
PE: Indoor PE will be on Monday afternoons. Outdoor PE will be on Tuesday afternoons. We will be continuing the Golden Mile initiative so please make sure your child has their PE kit, including trainers, in school every day. At this time of year, children should also have tracksuit bottoms and a jumper. Long hair must be tied back and spare socks are helpful.
