British Paralympic sailor, Hannah Stodel
On Tuesday, the children took part in a workshop with British Paralympic sailor, Hannah Stodel. Hannah has represented Great Britain at three Summer Paralympics and with her colleagues John Robertson and Stephen Thomas who have won multiple medals in the Mixed Sonar class at the Disabled Sailing World Championships, including gold in 2005 and 2006. Hannah led a whole school assembly and then ran workshops with all year groups. She talked enthusiastically about her career, the highs and lows and her future ambitions. The children really impressed Hannah. They behaved impeccably and asked some excellent, probing questions. It was an enjoyable morning. The funds raised will not only support our GB sporting stars, but Kings Worthy will also receive a large proportion of the money to enable us to purchase new PE equipment. So far we have raised nearly £900. This is fantastic! Thank you so much!
“I was so inspired by Hannah. Even though she has faced many challenges, she has never given up!” Poppy (Year 4)
“The exercises were fun! I broke Hannah’s record of 27 Burpees. I completed 31!” Abigail (Year 5)
“Hannah talked enthusiastically about her latest challenge - sailing solo around the world. What a challenge! What an athlete!” Mr Brewster.
