Topic 3: Out of India!     

This half term, we’ll be learning about India, its location and the landscape. As well as this, we will explore Fair Trade, compare traditional Indian homes and education to that of our own and learn Indian dance moves.

Literacy: Poetry – performing poems then using figurative language and personification to write our own. Diaries – we’ll be writing a diary entry in role as a character from ‘Cloud Tea Monkeys’. Instructions – we will be writing our own onion bhaji recipes.

Maths: Counting, reading, writing and ordering numbers to at least 9,999, counting forwards and backwards in steps of different sizes, rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100 or 1000, multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100, negative numbers. Tables facts - knowing all tables facts to 12 x 12 from memory and using these to work out division facts e.g. if 7x8=56, then 56÷8=7. Fractions –equivalent fraction families.  Decimals - Rounding and decimal/fraction equivalents.  Statistics - reading and interpreting graphs.

Computing:  We will be learning about computer animation using 2Animate.  

RE:  This half term, we will be learning about Hinduism, including Hindu worship (puja) and their gods.

Art: We will be creating Mehndi patterns, Banyan tree pictures and designs for the Elephant Festival.

PE:   Indoor PE will be on Monday afternoons. Outdoor PE will be on Tuesday afternoons.  We will be continuing the Golden Mile initiative so please make sure your child has their PE kit, including trainers, in school every day. At this time of year, children should also have tracksuit bottoms and a jumper. Long hair must be tied back and spare socks are helpful.
