Our Grounds

Our Grounds

We're very fortunate to have extensive grounds which incorporate a sports field, cross country track, woodland, ponds and play areas.  We've been working on a strategy plan for their development - each of the different areas that we've been developing are shown in our grounds photo albums.

 Woodland areas

We've begun improve our woodland areas to make them more accessible to the children and an increasingly useful curriculum resource.  Take a look in our grounds photo gallery to see how the work's progressing.

Frogspawn spotting in our ponds

We're most grateful for help and support from individuals and organisations in maintaining and developing our grounds.  Sparsholt College forestry students have removed dead and diseased trees and restored our woodland areas back to the original planting plan of the 1990s.  Worthy Conservation Volunteers have supported us with an annual visit for many years, Phil Allen showed us how to coppice hazels and created our hazel arches, and the Woodland Trust have provided tree packs.  The school PTFA have provided funding for raised beds in the Roman Garden and Merritt Tree Specialists have provided us with woodchip.  We've been awarded grants from the Hampshire Gardens Trust which have enabled us to create bench seating areas around the grounds and to build our allotment.   Logs for pathway borders and seating have been donated by the Forestry Commission and transported by Thomas Gregory of Plane Arboriculture Ltd SSE provided the digger and manpower to excavate a section of our grounds for our Anderson Shelter and the PTFA have funded the shelter.  Kier carried out tree crowning in the Yr R area and cut back the hedge at the front of the school and Southern Coating Contractors carried out all of the grading, levelling and root removal works to the hedge. Thank you everyone!
