Y3 Wells for India

Y3 Wells for India

Mrs Fernandes came into school last Tuesday to discover a magnificent array of cakes donated by the Year 3’s and their families. All of this effort was to raise funds for a charity, ‘Wells for India’. The Year 3 topic, last term was ‘Water’. The charity came into school to inform the children of the work that the charity undertakes, so, as a thank you, the children decided to hold a cake sale. The Great British Bake Off would’ve been given a run for their money.  One parent even baked at 11.00 the evening before!

Mrs Fernandes, Mrs Harkay and two representatives from the charity helped to set up the stall and with the children it was sell, sell, sell! The Year 3s worked so hard to sell and wrap the cakes, collect the money and even give correct change! Our visitors commented on what great ambassadors they were for our school. At the end of all this tremendous effort we raised  a staggering £176! So well done to everyone involved and once again thank you.

“We’re absolutely delighted with all the support and donations we’ve received from Kingsworthy School’s cake sale.  As a small charity, fundraising and awareness-raising events such as this make all the difference to us, as we help families fight water poverty in India every day.  The donation will go towards our appeal – Water for our Daughters – which will support one schoolgirl in each of the 50 villages to change hers, and her family’s life forever.  Kingsworthy rocks!”  Nicky Springthorpe, Wells for India
